Environment

All OnApp versions.

Answer

You may find the following facts helpful:

  • You cannot oversell RAM under OnApp with XEN or KVM. Once all the RAM has been allocated, you will be unable to provision a new virtual server on this compute resource.
  • In case that a compute resource fails, OnApp automatically moves virtual servers across all your available compute resources depending on the availability of resources. It is recommended to load your compute resources below the maximum capacity to ensure space in case of the failover of the virtual servers.
  • If virtual servers work together to offer redundancy, for example, DNS servers, it is advised to spread your virtual servers out over multiple compute resources.
  • The limit is only based on your hardware.
